Let’s start 2018 with erasing some unwanted lines. In 2017 I released a project that I felt had potential but had early struggles within the first couple of days. BarCode Shop was a shirt and poster store where I would put out basic designs. The idea was simple but the execution was done very poorly and lacked effort. I believed it could be something very unique but reality struck and I realized that I was entering a very difficult market. The clothing market is confined by giant corporations that can very easily copy your work with little effort. Toward the end of 2017 I finally had the last straw and I have decided to stop funding this project but will morph into something better.
Whats Next?
BarCode will be heading to a completely different area that I am more comfortable with and have always been my main interest Designing and Coding. 2016 was the year in which I learned to program applications for iOS and I want to continue that by releasing a new application every month that gets more complicated as time goes by far. The First app is going to be a basic background app but with all the unreleased designs from the the online shirt site.
What are the benefits?
There are 3 main benefits for this decision: Time, Money, and Change. Putting more time into something that you believe in is one of the most crucial components of success and failure. Spending time on these applications gives me time to flex the creative arm and make adjustments. When I started the online shop I had a major problem, How long until it becomes profitable? Over past couple of months that was the main issue and the only issue that continues to linger on. The solution has been to shut down operations on the store and invest on the designing and programming of upcoming applications. As well as make them cost money to use. Lastly, It’s time to change everything starting from the name. BEMonsterz has been used for over 7 years and it’s time to change into a grown up name. That’s why it will be renamed to BarCode Designs featuring both the design and coding path that we will be moving toward. Along with this the website urls will be changed as well as the logo for both.
